Customer Satisfaction

Five Principles

In A.O. Smith, all new employees will attend a training course named “building cooperative atmosphere with fundamental principles”, thus creating a sound communicational atmosphere and enhancing working efficiency. Through this training course, every employee knows about the ‘Five Principles’ advocated by A. O. Smith. Year after year, the Five Principles have become the behavior rules for all employees to handle daily work, being the consensus shared by the whole company.

ASTAR Program

In A.O. Smith, every employee provides services to colleagues and treats them as customers, which is called “internal customers services” (ASTAR). Through continuously enhancing internal service consciousness and communication, we effectively improve our operation. We will launch ASTAR survey to each Dept. and analyze the results so as to improve our internal service quality. These items are as follows:

CI——Continuous Improvement

● CI is the abbreviation of Continuous Improvement.
● CI is the effective way to guarantee the customer satisfaction, depends on the efforts of all employees, reliable production
    process, product and services which devotes to improve the quality.

CI is the consistent pursuit of A.O.Smith; is also one of the core contents of company culture and values which the company promotes. As the long time initiated management philosophy of A.O.Smith, CI has been developed in different plants of all over the world. In April of 2013, A.O.Smith (Shanghai) Water Treatment Co., Ltd. started to promote CI. “ To serve our customer through a better way” is the managing philosophy of A.O.Smith, which is also a dynamic for continuous development. The company encourages the employee to find the problems, analyze the problems and solve the problems, to promote continuous improvement among different aspects, safety, quality, service, designing, purchasing, production and sales.

Any employee could raise the CI suggestions, the score points would be given to the proposal maker, implementator according to result contribution after the CI project has been done. The CI proposal maker and implementator could change for related awards with score points after the CI result has been approved by management (please see CI award manual for detailed information).

Continuous improvement becomes inseparable part of A.O.Smith company culture, it helps to eliminate waste, promote management level, improve efficiency, and provide product and service with added values to customers.

A.O.Smith scholarship program


"A.O.Smith scholarship program”is a meaningful issue which is to all the staff’s sons and daughters in A.O.Smith. It is supported and applied enthusiastically by staff of A.O.Smith all over the world from 2007.It is founded by A.O.Smith foundation, its aim is to subsidize A.O.Smith’s staff’sons and daughters who have a mind to continue to study full-time in standard university and they can continue to apply for it every year.It is managed and executed by Scholarship Management Services which belongs to American scholarship organization.American scholarship organization is a national nonprofit supporting education and subsidizing students organization, its aim is to search for nonpublic help to enlarge education opportunity and encourage education achievement.The award of scholarship is not influenced by race,nation,skin color,belief,religion,gender and disability.

The scholar is assessed and awarded by American scholarship organization on the basis of their academic record, participation in school and community activities. Awards will be announced in June every year and be paied by American scholarship organization on behalf of A.O.Smith foundation, the standard of scholarship is $1500 every year. Our company joins in this program in 2012, one is awarded in 2012 and two are awarded in 2013.
